Armenian Rights Council of America (ARCA) Welcomes Biden’s Armenian Genocide Recognition

Mr. President, the Armenian Rights Council of America (ARCA) is grateful for your recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

This is a major milestone in the century-long struggle against the injustices and crimes that Armenians have suffered at the hands of the Ottomans and modern-day Turkey.

This recognition is integral in our long and ongoing fight for justice not only because it recognizes the genocidal nature of the horrendous crimes committed by the Ottomans, but it repudiates Turkey’s policy of denial of the Armenian Genocide as well.

Turkey’s persistent century-long denial of the truth has been nothing but a desperate attempt in escaping accountability for its crimes. Yet, today's recognition is a testament that the truth has and will prevail over Turkey's relentless lobbying and interference to thwart justice and that   

Turkey’s with its renewed Pan-Turkic policies inherited from the Ottoman Empire shall fail. Today's recognition reaffirms to the entire world, that Human Rights matter and that the United States will continue to lead the world on the ideals of freedom, justice, equality, and democracy, and block Turkey’s supremacist fantasies built on the oppression and extermination of minorities in the region.

The Presidential recognition once and for all affirms the term “Genocide” on the deliberate and atrocious acts perpetrated by the Ottomans, a recognition which generations of Armenians have worked and strived for, and many of whom did not live to see this day. 

Again, we are deeply grateful to you for your leadership, courage, integrity, your uncompromising rejection of Turkey’s denial of the Armenian Genocide, and condemnation of Turkey's policies in the region today.
